LM2500 gas turbine installation at Quarantine Power Station completed with MACH2T mechanical engineering and field service support.

Summary

Repower of Unit 1 at Origin Energy's Quarantine Power Station, replacing the existing Siemens GT10B gas turbine with a GE LM2500 aeroderivative package. Substantial portions of the existing station infrastructure was retained and adapted around the new turbine technology. MACH2T was engaged directly by GE, working within GE's site management, safety and quality systems.


Gas Turbine Installation: Key Services & Outcomes

MACH2T supplied the specialist mechanical construction and turbine installation workforce. Scope covered:

• Removal and disassembly of existing GT10B equipment

• Heavy lifting and rigging

• Structural modification and fabrication at height

• LM2500 package installation

• Load gearbox and generator installation

• Rotor train alignment

• Filter house and exhaust modification

• Mechanical Balance of Plant

• Lubrication and fuel gas system installation

• Contamination control and oil flushing; and

• Commissioning support through to first fire.


MACH2T field service team supporting heavy lifting and installation during the LM2500 QPS Repower Project at Torrens Island, South Australia.

Joint open items closeout was managed with GE and Origin Energy through to demobilisation.


MACH2T completed completed its project scope with no outstanding mechanical items and no injuries.
